I am delighted to be able to offer a range of gardening workshops again for this year. Details below for dates confirmed so far.

 

The next three workshops will take place at my own garden at Park Hill Farm, Harwood Dale, nr Scarborough.

Bite sized, small group, bespoke gardening workshops with a light lunch and cake.

‘Let’s Get Growing’ @ The Homestead Kitchen

Saturday April 18th – An introduction to vegetable gardening

An introductory session to help you on your way to growing your own organic vegetables.

Whether you are a seasoned gardener or a complete beginner, this workshop is packed full of easy pro-tips to help you make the most of your time and space to grow as much healthy fruit and veg as possible.  From growing in containers, making a no-dig bed, making compost, sowing seeds, pricking out and when to plant stuff, this two hour workshop has you covered.

The price includes a hot drink on arrival and a delicious vegetable soup and home baked stottie afterwards at this award winning Michelin Green Starred restaurant on the moors.  Your tutor will be Jan Hoyland, renowned designer, consultant and author, who designed and implemented the kitchen garden at The Homestead. She brings over thirty years experience as a professional Head Gardener and a wealth of knowledge to share.

The workshop will combine theory with practical demonstrations, so please arrive with suitable outdoor clothing for the weather.

Friday 24th – The Cut Flower Garden

Have you ever wished you could grow more of your own cut flowers?

Whether you wish to develop a specific cut flower garden, or else want to grow more plants suitable for cutting within your garden borders, this is the workshop for you.

From choosing suitable flowers, whether annuals, perennials, bulbs or shrubs, Jan will take you through the different options and discuss the pros and cons of each.  There are a wide range of glorious blooms you can grow to suit your own garden conditions and we will investigate how best to grow your favourites to ensure a variety of colourful bouquets and posies throughout the seasons.

NEW!  Friday 22nd May

Wild about Flowers – creating meadows, traditional and modern.

Join us at Park Hill Farm to learn about creating and maintaining wildflower meadows, from traditional hay meadows through to colourful annual flower meadows.  All drinks and a light vegetarian lunch will be provided.

£5.00 from the sale of every ticket will be donated to the North York Moors ‘Forgotten Flowers’ campaign which aims to reintroduce rare flowers back into various locations with the national park.
